The commentary on our invigilator videos was updated for the 2019/20 academic year

Note: due to late publication of the JCQ’s updated regulations, together with the current health and safety restrictions, production of updated videos for 2020/21 has been postponed. The content of videos still however reflects the current regulations other than:

Video (The role of an invigilator)

  • The JCQ Mobile phone poster has been replaced by the JCQ Unauthorised items poster
  • The JCQ Warning to candidates poster has been updated, with wording altered, points rearranged and the removal of ‘You must not have in your possession any unauthorised material or equipment which might give you an unfair advantage’
  • A teacher, a tutor or a senior member of centre staff who teaches the subject being examined, cannot be an invigilator during the examination

Video (At the beginning of the examination)

  • The people present – Senior members of centre staff approved by the head of centre, who have not taught the subject being examined, may be present at the start of the examination(s)

Video (The role of a reader)

  • (The reader) may decode symbols and unit abbreviations in Maths and Science examinations for candidates who require this arrangement in order to access the assessment and where it reflects the candidate’s current and normal way of working within the centre
